Our new 2’x3’ sidewalk signs arrived today from Vistaprint. They’ll go up on weekends and complement our other signage as we welcome our community to our worship events.

Most of us have role models we aspire to imitate. Our current message series, FOLLOW, reveals 4 skills that Jesus inspires in those who follow him by faith.

Roof Replacement Update: “Waitin’ on the rain...” Urethane Systems was on site at Christ the Lord this morning but couldn’t get started on the roof tear off. Heavy storms came through the area last night. Rain and thunder persisted this morning and prevented the crew from starting.

Fun news: We just took our next step toward offering quality video content to our community! . We've been in need of an easy-to-operate video camera with strong low-light and optical zoom capabilities. This would allow us to record our Saturday evening services from the back of the room in relatively low-light with quality audio. . Our goal is to record Saturday worship events, then edit and upload them overnight, and have them available to view online with embedded sermon notes and graphics by Sunday morning. . A kind supporter of CTL recently gifted us with the funds to make a purchase we think will meet our needs! Thank you so much! WELS has big plans to reveal new worship music for use in church services around the nation in time for Christmas 2021. . A hymnal + 16 other printed resource books + digital files of it all + an online service builder = great things to come for our worship events. . Our heartfelt condolences to the Hoffman family through Jesus who brings comfort. . The Christian funeral service for Geoff Hoffman, son of Gene & Gerry Hoffman, will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Tomah, Wisconsin, today at 11:00 am CST, 12:00 noon EST. . The butterfly, an ancient symbol of resurrection, reminds us of Jesus' promise that those who live in faith in him as the Savior of the world will never truly die, but will join him in the heavenly home he has lovingly prepared for us. . Geoff's Obituary follows: . GEOFFERY L HOFFMAN, 65 of Tomah was called to eternal glory on Sunday July 28, 2019. He was born on August 25, 1953 in Pratt, Kansas to Eugene and Geraldine (Thompson) Hoffmann. He was baptized a child of God while in Preston, Kansas. After moving to South Milwaukee, Geoff was confirmed on March 19, 1967 at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church. Geoff was a member of the South Milwaukee High School Graduating Class of 1971. Once completing high school, he furthered his Christian Education by Graduating from Doctor Martin Luther College with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1975. On December 30, 1978, Geoff was united in marriage to Susan Lenz at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, Tomah. Together, they have resided in the Tomah area, raising their children and teaching at St. Paul’s Lutheran School. He taught for 43 years and served as the Principal for the last 3 years or his career. Affectionally, known as “Coach” by countless grade school and high school athletes, his true joy was watching young Christian children grow and use their God given talents in various ways. Geoff’s passion for coaching started, even before coming to Tomah, when he coached summer league softball and basketball in Milwaukee for 9 years. His love of coaching continued when he started teaching at St. Paul’s in Tomah where he coached Basketball for 43 years, softball 25 years, Girls Volleyball for 16 years, Track and field for 43 years, Boys Basketball for 34 years, and Boys softball for 15 years. Geoff loved everything sports and especially enjoyed spending his time collecting baseball cards and golfing. He would often be out golfing with his good friend, Jim Zingler. In the summer, he worked at the Tomah Tractor Pull and Monroe County Fair in the general parking division for 34 years. Geoff was a faithful member of St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church. He will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Susan of Tomah, his children, Joshua (Wesley) Hoffmann of Waukesha and Natosha Hoffmann of Madison, his parents, Eugene and Geraldine Hoffmann of Clearwater, FL, 2 Brothers, Randy (Barb) Hoffmann of Wilbur, NE and Greg (Rhonda) Hoffmann of Fond du Lac, sisters-in-law, Karen (David) Leis of Wilton, and Jean (Bill) Summers of Wauwatosa, nieces, nephews, friends, and many students. He was preceded in death by two infant sons. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Church, 525 Superior Ave., Tomah. The Pastors of St. Paul will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Relatives, friends and former students are invited for a time of visitation on Friday, August 2, 2019 at the church from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again, on Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. The family requests memorials be given to the St. Paul Ev. Lutheran School Tuition Offset Fund in Geoff’s Memory.
